A “DAMASCUS ROAD” prayer request handout for Donald Trump at a busy BART station in the San Francisco Bay Area eight years ago was that God would change DT’s heart and mind as radically as with the case of St Paul’s conversion on the Damascus Rd. Now, after eight years of praying that, let’s add to that prayer—and recommend it to others for their consideration—that if God is not going to do that kind of radical change of heart/mind in our president, then please remove him from this life quickly, painlessly, without violence, soon—and grant him great mercy and healing of soul. Of course, this rests fully in God’s hands, as always with any of our prayers. MAGA would likely remain a force, but at least not with the same overwhelmingly chaotic level of anti-human influence. Perhaps with the focused prayers of many millions of America’s pray-ers, the God of their lives would release the USA and the world from the extremity of our distinctly American sickness.
Of our 340 million citizens, Gallup polling indicates that 81% believe in God, and approximately two-thirds indicate prayer frequency somewhere between daily and at least a few times per month. Let’s put a particular focus on this particular prayer for July 4.
Bearing in mind the chaos, damage, and moral sickness DT has unleashed on America and the world, this recommended prayer for him should not be prayed in anger but in genuine compassion—for both he and the other 8 billion of our species, and likely untold billions of life-forms of other species. Do remember too, that he alone, among the 8 billion of us, is the only one with absolutely unfettered access to control over the use of the world’s largest national arsenal of nuclear weapons. That’s much scarier than another master 20th-century manipulator with clearly symptomatic malignant narcissism when his influence was coming apart—Jim Jones and 900+ dead in Jonestown, Guyana.
When we consider DT‘s three most formative influences: “pure evil” attorney Roy Cohn as main advisor, Fred Trump the demanding and ethically challenged father, and his adoring mother Mary who Donald was quoted as saying he “could do no wrong,” is it any wonder that his emotional life and sense of self were twisted beyond anything like a normal ability to sustain healthy relationships? He never became truly adult and remains an emotionally crippled adolescent. Certainly, we should have compassion on such a one and pray that God will far exceed our very limited human compassion in final judgment.
